We have studied a number of war poems now and you lot are brilliant at analysing and explaing poetic devices. I wonder if you can make your own poetic devices up though?
I challenge you to write a simile or a metaphor to describe the picture below.
Simile - a figure of speech that directly compares two different things, usually by employing the words "like" or "as".
Metaphor - when you use two nouns and compare or contrast them to one another. Unlike simile, you don't use "like" or "as" in the comparison.

We looked at a poem called Who's For The Game in class today. Your insights were really mature and thoughtful. I would like you to try and reflect those in your comments on this blog now and in the future.
We are looking at War Poetry this term. What does the word 'War' mean to you?
Answers (not on a postcard) in the comments box below please!
