Research Task - The Crucible

Today's task is to research different elements that will help with your understanding of the play we are studying this term 'The Crucible'.


Under this post I would like you to write any interesting facts you find out about the topics listed. These comments must be in your own words not copied and pasted in!     In 1608 a group of Puritan separatists, attempting to escape religious persecution, fled from England to the Netherlands. They stayed there until 1620, but, fearing that they were losing their cultural identity and met some pilgrims.

    Other girls soon manifested the same symptoms. Their doctor could suggest but one cause. Witchcraft.

    In 1692 in Massachusetts 19 people were found guilty of practising witchcraft and were hanged.
